I have never heard of Washers(the game). I have played many a game oh Horseshoes. When ever my dad's side of the family got together there was always a game or two going on. I have a cousin that plays in tournaments. So nice to be insane; no one asks you to explain.

Sounds like a fun game and glad to hear you beat the guys. It's funny how they act when we beat them at their own games..lol.. I have played horseshoes, but im so much better at card games especially POKER. I remember poker night at the ex sister in laws house where the men wouldn't let us play until one night we were bragging we could beat them. So they let us play and lets just say they didn't go home with much of their paychecks left..  Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Ha! I learned to play horseshoes at family reunions too! I remember being so excited when I was finally old enough and allowed to play!  I have played that for years and years...our family reunion has moved to a new location which does not have horseshoe pits...  Sounds like you had a great time! Never played washers..but I believe I have seen the game somewhere. I have horseshoe pit here at the house, not a great player though. I have an Aunt that is awesome at horseshoes, never played against her but the men of the family say she can beat any of them. Played lawn jarts...but that is not considered a safe game to have. Corn Hole has become quite popular around here for party game fun. Bean bags tossed at a sloping flat surface with a hole near the top end of the slope. Looks like a triangle if viewed from the side. Points are scored similar to horseshoes. On the surface 1 point per bag, closest bag to the hole scores the point or points; in the hole 3 points I think. Opponents bag in the hole after yours cancels your toss. 4 bags for each contestant to toss, in order like horseshoes. Eh, I do ok at Corn hole too,,just like horseshoes.

Washers is an old bar game, from a time when gambling or even playing cards was banned in some places. Considered a game of ability, variations of it can be found at carnivals appearing in towns where gambling is still illegal. I 1st saw it as a child in VA, also saw it played by my grandmother in Te as and she was quite good at it.

Washer*z is easy, and alot of fun. Had to give up play'in Horse Shoe*z. /-/orse* z didn't appreciate being thrown ! !

Games for camping are horseshoes, washer toss, bocci ball, Bolos Toss Game, beanbag toss.....we don't have grass for backyard games!
