I've got the opposite problem with the site... I can leave comments on other folks blogs but I can't read the comments on my own blog until almost 12 hours after the person has left them!!!!! They come through randomly as well as the blog not appearing on the "recent blogs" list until after the first comment is viewable by me! It's crazy and annoying and until I read your posts about it, I was thinking it's personal lol!

I wondered about such things ... sometimes someone's comments show up as comment #1 in my blog, but they weren't there the first time I looked, they showed up hours and hours later in the #1 spot. So annoying!

Sounds like someone on this site has complained about you then.

Oye....guapa......

Dear site support,

Please leave the McPapster alone, she is kinda rather very sexy and gorgeous and we should be allowed to enjoy her musings unencumbered by your monkeyness.

Yours Faitfully,

The McLindo

ps - aye, ta much!

flag your comments? what is this? they do this? how do I make a complaint about it as a blogger. I don't want them flagging ANYONE who comments on my blog for any reason, that should be at my discretion, no theirs.

honestly - for a sex site they have some pretty ridiculous censorship rules.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

I haven't had a lot of interactions that deserve flagging. But recently I've started to notice fakes -- profiles with pictures that just happen to be those of Japanese pop stars, or nonsense like that. Can't the fakers be bothered to at least put in some Photoshop effort so that their pictures don't show up instantly with Google Image Search or Tineye?

I suppose the demise of the personals section of Craisglist has sent the fakes scrambling.

As for weird technical things like messages showing up in blogs hours after they're posted, I think I can explain. According to the main page, there are 85,752 people on the site right now. Many are probably doing stuff that makes the servers work a lot, like watching videos or clicking through lots of pictures. The site can't support that many active users on a single server without getting really slow, so it spreads the active users across lots of different servers, probably hundreds or thousands.

Besides all the active users, there are a huge number of users who are registered and in the site's database, but not active. That database is much too large to keep a copy on each of the servers, so pieces of the database are scattered across all the servers. But having just one copy of the database would make it too easy to lose data to technical problems, and also too slow, so there are several copies of each part of the database scattered across multiple servers.

So, when I post this message, the server that outcupid.com has me connected to as an active user will send the message to the nearest server that contains a copy of the papis_baby_girl blog database, and (because it's also a post by me, in addition to a post to this blog) send a copy to the nearest server that contains my blog data. But there are other copies of both this blog and the by-me blog data. The servers where this message goes first may pass them on to the other copies of the blog data -- but they might take hours to do so if some of the servers are too busy, or shut down for maintenance.

Does that make sense the way I've explained it? There's a lot more that makes it even more complicated, like how an active user server figures out where to look for user data, but I'll spare everyone that.

Glad my explanation made sense. It's always a guess whether something technical is going to be talking down, going over heads, or hit the mark.

I just like to complain... it's in my nature and since I'm not meeting at this time, what else is there to do?

What do you do when you're not meeting people? I suppose some combination of fantasizing, erotica, porn, and frustration.
